Call For Presenters: Conference on 3D Imaging & Positioning for Engineering/Construction/Manufacturing/Security

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Monday, December 19, 2011

SPAR International 2012 brings together industry leaders to share fresh, actionable ideas about the business and technology of 3D imaging.  The event is all about capturing, processing and delivering 3D to mitigate project risk, boost productivity, improve workplace safety and win new business.

We invite you to submit a presentation abstract describing how your organization uses new 3D technologies and workflows.  Presentation abstracts that address the challenges you face, the outcomes you’ve achieved, and the metrics you use to quantify your success are especially welcome.  Presenters at SPAR International find tremendous value in sharing new approaches with its world-class audience, making new industry connections and inspiring fresh thinking about familiar challenges.

TOPICS include but are not limited to:

  • 3D Laser Scanning
  • New 3D Imaging Technologies, including Gigapixel and High-Dynamic Range Photography
  • LIDAR
  • 3D/4D GIS
  • Mobile Surveying/Mapping
  • Next-Generation Photogrammetry
  • Underwater Measurement
  • Dimensional Control for Fabrication and Modular Construction
  • Integration of Terrestrial, LIDAR, Mobile Surveying and other technologies
  • Integration of CAD and GIS with Pointcloud Processing Solutions
  • Pointcloud Processing and Data Extraction
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM) Deliverables from Scan Data
  • Clash Detection
  • Automated Feature Extraction
  • Standardizing Data Formats
  • Workflow Process Improvements
  • Solutions for Timely and Cost-Effective "Field-to-Finished" Results
  • Fusing Digital Photography with Survey-Grade Field Data
  • Intelligent 3D Models
  • 3D Virtualization
  • Augmented Reality
  • Web-based File Sharing
  • Risk Minimization
  • Digital Preservation of Heritage Sites
  • Best Practices for Contracting and Service Provider Selection
  • Training and Professional Development including Educating the Next Generation

INDUSTRIES include but are not limited to:

  • Energy/Utility: Oil and Gas Production, Refining, Nuclear Power, Offshore Construction, Shipbuilding
  • Process Plants: Chemical, Water, Waste
  • Building/Architecture
  • Civil/Transportation Infrastructure: Bridge, Road, Runnel, Rail
  • Geotechnical: Tunnel, Mining
  • Discrete Manufacturing Facilities: Automotive, Aerospace
  • Entertainment: Filmmaking, Theme Parks, Video Gaming
  • Forensic and Security: Crime Investigation, Security Planning
  • Historic and Cultural: Digital preservation of Cultural and Historic Sites

Please note: Presentations must be original and not a repeat of a presentation given at another conference. We request that sales and marketing pitches be saved for the exhibit floor and not proposed as presentations. But a new technology or unique solution presented as a case study is very welcome. Please contact us with questions about this distinction.

Additionally, live demonstrations will be featured prominently throughout the conference, so please feel free to include suggestions for showing 3D technology capture, processing and/or delivery in action (e.g., portable scanning, mobile or remotely-controlled scanning, examples of photogrammetry in use, suggested scenarios for scanning such as nearby facilities or landscapes, etc.).
