Westlake Consultants, Inc. is pleased to announce the election of Westlake Associate, Gary Anderson, to State Chair of the Professional Land Surveyors of Oregon (PLSO).
Gary has been actively engaged with PLSO for many years. In 2009, he was named Oregon Surveyor of the Year by his peers as a result of his committed efforts to encourage young adults to explore land surveying as a career.
Gary served as PLSO Pioneer Chapter president in 2005, and over the past three years, he served as PLSO’s statewide education and outreach chairman and liaison to the state board of examiners (OSBEELS).
He has volunteered countless hours to provide educational opportunities related to civil engineering and technology for area middle schools, high schools and Boy Scouts groups. Gary also volunteers as a presenter and promoter of Trig Star, a nationally recognized mathematics program for high school students. His commitment to learning extends to higher education, where Gary has served as an adjunct instructor for Portland Community College.
During Oregon’s Sesquicentennial Celebration, Gary led PLSO developments for the historically significant Willamette Stone State Park located in Portland’s West Hills. He contributed the photos and historical text which describes the Willamette Stone to author Rhonda Rushing’s book, Lasting Impressions: A Glimpse into the Legacy of Surveying.
Gary joined Westlake in 1996 and was named an Associate in 2006.
