Nikon-Trimble Introduces New Nikon 1” and 3” Total Stations

Cologne, Germany, Oct. 5, 2010 – Nikon-Trimble Co., Ltd. introduced today the Nikon® Nivo™ 1.C one- second angle accuracy, reflectorless mechanical total station. In addition, Nikon-Trimble introduced the Nikon DTM-322, an economical, prism-based 3” dual-faced total station that provides a strong value proposition in terms of price and performance. Each new Nikon model offers superior Nikon quality optics, performance and reliability, making it ideal for a variety of surveying applications.

The announcement was made at INTERGEO 2010, the world’s largest conference on geodesy, geoinformatics and land management.

Nikon Nivo 1.C
The Nivo 1.C total station complements the existing Nivo C Series surveying solutions and reflects the dependability and reliability represented by the Nikon name. Enabling users to see 0.5” angular displays, this instrument provides robust locking tangents to ensure the quality of data. The Nivo Series continues to provide surveyors with valuable positioning tools to conduct topographic data collection, stakeout or layout jobs, cadastral boundary surveys and more.

Nikon Nivo C Series
The Nivo C Series features a Windows® CE touchscreen interface. Field application software functions are supported by Spectra Precision® Survey Pro™ field software for surveying and construction measurement needs. The Nikon Nivo products offer a distance measurement accuracy of up to ±(2 + 2 ppm x D) mm. The Nikon total stations provide a long-distance reflectorless measurement range of up to 300 meters (980ft.), reducing the need for multiple set-ups. In addition, the Nikon Nivo Series includes a coaxial laser pointer to assist with target identification and reducing aiming time. All Nivo C Series feature a dual-face display, efficient high-precision angle and distance measurements, cable-free Bluetooth connections to external data collectors, plus support for USB memory sticks, and a high-speed data transfer port. Meeting IP66 standards for water and dust-proof protection, the Nikon Nivo Series is rugged and can operate in virtually all types of weather. Each product supports two interchangeable, onboard batteries that provide up to 62 hours of continuous angle measurements.

With this functionality, survey tasks can be performed more quickly and efficiently, allowing surveyors to increase productivity in the field. The Nivo C Series is now available in 1”, 2", 3" and 5" models to meet specific accuracy needs.

The new Nikon Nivo C Series 1.C is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2011 through Nikon – Spectra Precision distributors.

Nikon DTM-322 Series
Nikon-Trimble also introduced the Nikon DTM-322 with 3” accuracy and dual-faces for efficient angle measurement. The Nikon DTM-322 is an economical, versatile, prism-based total station. Nikon’s legendary optics effectively allow in more light to give brighter, clearer images even in low-visibility conditions typical in the field. For convenience, the Nikon DTM-322 uses off-the-shelf standard or rechargeable AA batteries. The Nikon DTM-322 total stations are fully featured and are among the fastest total stations in their class, providing a quick return on their investment.

The Nikon DTM-322 is expected to be available in October 2010.
