Hemisphere GPS Introduces miniEclipse – The Smallest Dual Frequency GPS OEM Board Available

Portland, OR — September 22, 2010 — (TSX: HEM) Today from the ION GNSS 2010 Conference in Portland, Oregon, Hemisphere GPS announced the release of miniEclipse™ – a compact dual frequency GPS OEM board that incorporates the same digital and analog ASIC design as the recently released EclipseTM II OEM board.

miniEclipse – the smallest precision dual frequency (L1/L2) OEM module available in the market today – is available in two form factors, P200TM and P201TM. miniEclipse P200 is a drop-in board replacement for Hemisphere GPS’ very successful Crescent® board, while miniEclipse P201 is configured as a drop-in replacement for another industry standard interface. The miniEclipse P200 and P201 receivers offer high- performance positioning accuracy and low power consumption in a tiny package. Customers will appreciate the scalability of miniEclipse as it functions in L1-only SBAS and RTK modes and can be upgraded to dual-frequency RTK solutions. Also, raw data is available for post-processing in any configuration.

“Integration has never been easier – Crescent module integrators can easily transition to dual frequency by replacing it with miniEclipse P200, adding a few new messages and then connecting a dual frequency antenna such as our A52TM,” said Cameron Baird, Director of Business Development at Hemisphere GPS.

P200 and P201 also feature our patented SureTrack® technology – this provides for a dramatic increase in RTK performance. The miniEclipse-enabled rover makes use of every satellite it is tracking, even satellites not tracked at the base. This, in addition to better cycle slip detection, provides for faster RTK reacquisition and greatly improved RTK robustness. Reliable DGPS positioning is enhanced through Hemisphere GPS’ exclusive COASTTM technology.

"Providing advanced dual frequency GPS performance in a small form factor board illustrates our commitment to our customers," said Dr. Michael Whitehead, Vice President, Technology at Hemisphere GPS. "Integrators now have a powerful new option for designing compact GPS solutions."

The P200 and P201 OEM boards will be available in the fourth quarter of 2010 through our global network of Hemisphere GPS dealers. Please visit Hemisphere GPS in booths 617 & 619 at the ION GNSS 2010 Conference in Portland, Oregon, today through September 24th. The latest Hemisphere GPS’ Crescent, Eclipse, Vector GPS Compass and antenna products will be on display.
