The RD7000 and RD8000 Deliver Fast, Accurate, and Repeatable Locate Information for All Utilities

Radiodetection is a world leader in the design and development of cable and pipe locators, used by utility companies, to help install, protect and maintain their infrastructure networks.

Locating specific pipes and cables in large underground networks is becoming increasingly complex. Ground distortion effects, caused by different soil types and proximity to other conductors, make the operator’s job more difficult and more time-consuming. The most important requirements for a locator under these circumstances are ease of use, accuracy and reliability. The RD7000® and RD8000® address these needs with several groundbreaking features that deliver accurate, reliable and repeatable measurements.

Ergonomic Cable and Pipe Locators
The specially designed ergonomic features of the RD7000 and RD8000 provide operators with light weight, energy efficient and exceptionally well balanced tools. The RD7000 and RD8000 are 28% lighter than the RD4000® which encourages extended use. The receiver and transmitter feature a large, high contrast, backlit LCD screen that provides the users with clear information in any light conditions. The intuitive and responsive interface is designed so the operator can assess any feature with ease. A self explanatory icon set on the keypad is consistent on both the transmitter and receiver. In addition to their light weight and form, the RD7000 and RD8000 retain the environmental durability associated with an IP54 rating which ensures that it can be used in many demanding environments.

Centros®Enabled
The RD7000 and RD8000 are Centros enabled. Centros is a measurement engine based on more than 30 years of continuous development. Centros combines new and innovative algorithms with established software on a high-performance processor core. Centros improves the accuracy and repeatability and delivers timely responsiveness in the field.

eCAL™ Validation
eCAL is included with Centros Manager, a Radiodetection applications suite for Microsoft® Windows® that gives users the tools to manage the RD7000 and RD8000 receivers directly from their desktop or laptop computers. Radiodetection’s customers are often working 24/7 and it can be inconvenient for them to have to send their equipment back to a service center for recalibration or updates. This novel technique allows operators to validate the original factory calibration of the RD7000 and RD8000 online. Operators now have absolute confidence that the locator continues to meet its factory calibration. With ease of use and customer satisfaction always at the forefront of new innovations, Radiodetection’s eCAL can issue and print a validation certificate.

iLOC® Linking
ILOC allows the operator to control a number of features on the transmitter remotely. For areas prone to interference or where multiple operators are locating the operator can use SideStep® which moves the transmitter frequency slightly above the selected frequency to avoid unwanted interference. Frequency Select allows the operator to save time by choosing an active frequency on the RD8000 and synchronously changing the transmitter frequency to match. Power Management allows the operator to adjust the output power of the transmitter to optimize the output signal, leading to efficient use of transmitter batteries. The Transmitter remote sleep/awake feature conveniently wakes the transmitter with a simple key press on the receiver. When linked, the receiver and transmitter can communicate at distances up to 100 metres in direct line of sight providing the operator with a fast and unique means of conducting the survey.

SurveyCERT®
The RD8000 features SurveyCERT which gives the operator the tools to pass survey information to third-party applications for audit, analysis and reporting on a PC or PDA. The RD8000 stores data in industry-standard CSV file format, which is compatible with Microsoft® Excel® and most commercial GIS packages. SurveyCERT makes the RD8000 a powerful ally to any pipeline or utility mapping and reporting professional.
