Graz, Austria — August 10, 2010 — GISPRO LLC has contracted with Vexcel Imaging GmbH, a Microsoft® company, to purchase an UltraCamXp large-format digital aerial camera system.
The UltraCamXp, GISPRO’s first large-format digital aerial camera, is an integral part of its Airborne Photogrammetric Platform project. The Vexcel Imaging camera will be mounted on a Partenavia P-68 TC Observer aircraft, in addition to an airborne laser scanner, a medium-format digital camera, a thermal imaging camera, and GPS/IMU. The Airborne Photogrammetric Platform will be used to serve GISPRO’s primary customers — local and international engineering and design offices, the Polish Head Office of Geodesy and Cartography, the Polish Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture, construction companies, local government agencies, and state forests. GISPRO plans to expand into the central and western European markets and provide a full range of terrestrial and airborne remote sensing services.
“GISPRO has had excellent experiences processing data from UltraCam cameras owned by our partners,” stated Mr. Arkadiusz Szadkowski, Director of the Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing Department at GISPRO. “We are convinced the UltraCamXp is the digital camera that best suits our specific ground sample distance and data quality requirements.”
“Vexcel Imaging is pleased that GISPRO selected the UltraCamXp as part of its new Airborne Photogrammetric Platform,” said Alexander Wiechert, Business Director of Microsoft and Managing Director for Vexcel Imaging GmbH. “The company will now be able to offer a combination of aerial remote sensing capabilities, including data acquisition with its own aircraft and cameras, for projects throughout central and western Europe.”
About the UltraCamXp
The UltraCamXp large-format digital aerial camera, released in 2008, provides a pixel size of 6 micrometers and a footprint of 196 megapixels (17,310 across track x 11,310 along track), the largest pan footprint across-flight strip available today. The resolution ratio of 1:3 between pan and color bands allows for the production of high-resolution pan-sharpened products. The UltraCamXp makes use of the same data flow concept introduced with the UltraCamX and provides even more in-flight storage capacity. The low-cost, exchangeable on-board storage devices hold up to 6,600 images each—approximately 4.2 TB of data. The vast storage capability allows for more efficient data collection as a result of uninterrupted image collection and minimal ground time.
