Graz, Austria — July 6, 2010 — Aeromanagement Group has contracted with Vexcel Imaging GmbH, a Microsoft® company, to upgrade its UltraCamX large-format digital aerial camera system to an UltraCamXp. Aeromanagement will use the UltraCamXp on a modified Learjet 35A.
“The performance of the UltraCamX has always met or greatly exceeded our clients’ expectations,” noted Aeromanagement’s President, Mr. Ennio Staffini. “Our upgrade to the UltraCamXp will allow Aeromanagement to achieve even greater productivity without having to invest in new equipment infrastructure.”
“Vexcel Imaging is pleased to provide Aeromanagement with an upgrade to the UltraCamXp,” said Alexander Wiechert, Business Director of Microsoft and Managing Director for Vexcel Imaging GmbH. “The upgrade paths that Vexcel Imaging provides help our customers grow their businesses over time, cost effectively and without causing major disruptions in their work flow.”
The UltraCamXp was released in 2008 with an enhanced image footprint and larger storage capabilities compared to its predecessor, the UltraCamX. Vexcel Imaging provides upgrade paths so that clients can upgrade UltraCam cameras to newer models and retain compatibility with established workflows (the UltraCamD is upgraded through trade-in). The sequence of large-format digital aerial camera system models is UltraCamD, UltraCamX, UltraCamXp, UltraCamXp Wide Angle. Similarly, the medium-format UltraCamL can be upgraded to an UltraCamLp.
About the UltraCamXp
The UltraCamXp large-format digital aerial camera provides a pixel size of 6 micrometers and a footprint of 196 megapixels (17,310 across track x 11,310 along track), the largest pan footprint across-flight strip available today. The resolution ratio of 1:3 between pan and color bands allows for the production of high-resolution pan-sharpened products. The UltraCamXp makes use of the same data flow concept introduced with the UltraCamX and provides even more in-flight storage capacity. The low-cost, exchangeable on-board storage devices hold up to 6,600 images each—approximately 4.2 TB of data. The vast storage capability allows for more efficient data collection as a result of uninterrupted image collection and minimal ground time.
