Livermore, Calif. – February 23, 2010 – Topcon Positioning Systems announced that it recently signed a data license agreement with Autodesk, Inc., a world leader in 2D and 3D design, engineering and entertainment software.
The agreement authorizes Autodesk to use Topcon’s IP-S2 3D Mobile Mapping System data sets in the advertising, marketing, training and distribution of their software where desired. The IP-S2 datasets are in the form of extensive geo-referenced, colorized point clouds.
Topcon is a member of the Autodesk Developer Network, and provides sample data to assist in targeted software product development.
The IP-S2 features dual-frequency GNSS tracking, high-accuracy IMU integration and odometry for fast, safe data collection at a cost well below conventional ground mapping methods.
Typical applications of the IP-S2 are:
• 3D Mobile mapping and surveying;
• Roadway condition assessments;
• Pipelines, Railways, Utility Corridors, Waterways;
• Homeland Security; and
• Disaster Management.
Charles Rihner, vice president of Topcon’s Emerging Business Unit, said, “We are excited to provide the IP-S2 datasets to Autodesk as we believe it enables them to highlight the many features of their software in a way that reflects their customer’s current and future requirements.”
