Carlson Software Expands Carlson College

Multiple Class Venues Make it Easier to Learn and Grow

Maysville, Ky., USA (April 2, 2009) – Carlson Software recently expanded their expert level training program, Carlson College™, and started the Carlson College Training Program, an international program dedicated to providing superior training on Carlson’s products.

The Carlson College Training Program is being built to be the highest quality training resource in the world. Individuals can get training direct from Carlson Software or through the members of the Carlson College Training Program. Carlson Software offers professional training at our facilities in Maysville, Ky., and Boston, Mass. In addition, Carlson Software offers regional training throughout the United States as well as on-site custom consulting.

Detailed training programs, involving basics to advanced concepts, are offered for all Carlson products, from SurvCE to Carlson Survey, Carlson Civil, Hydrology, Mining, Grade and Takeoff.  Individuals or companies can maximize software performance by availing themselves of these training offerings. Multiple forums and venues are being offered at fixed classrooms as well as locations around the country and at various Carlson dealers around the world.

Carlson College was formed as a training division within Carlson Software in 2006 after Carlson purchased OutSource Inc. In February 2009, employees of the former Division of Carlson College formed an independent entity called Harken-Reidar Inc. led by Outsource founder Harry O. Ward. Harken-Reidar, which is located in Front Royal, Va., and is a Carlson Software dealer, became the first member of the Carlson College Training Program.

Membership in the Carlson College Training Program is available to any person or organization that makes a commitment to providing quality training on Carlson Software products. Each Certified Carlson Trainer at member establishments must pass multiple tests to train on each Carlson product and will retain their certification based on maintaining high quality satisfaction ratings as reported by class attendees.

In addition to Harken-Reidar Inc., other Carlson dealers who have become members of the Carlson College Training Program include Carlson Desktop Solutions (CDS), based in Austin, Texas; That CAD Girl, located near Raleigh, N.C.; and for training on C&G software products only, Larry Phipps of the Land Surveyor’s Workshop in Jefferson, N.C.

“We are very excited about this opportunity,” says Paul Carlson, President of CDS. “CDS was founded on service, most of which is training and consulting. We are a huge advocate of continuing education both internally and for our clients and see this as a way for us to keep our trainers sharp. We also see this as a beacon for clients, letting them know they are getting a quality service from a quality company.”

As a Carlson Dealer and an Authorized Autodesk Partner, CDS provides training, consulting and support services from field-to-finish to help its clients get the most out of their investments. CDS offers industry specific training and consulting services on-site, over the web or at one of its training facilities.

Jennifer DiBona, who does business as That CAD Girl, is full-time independent consultant with more than 15 years of experience in civil/survey production and sales and support of Autodesk and Carlson products. DiBona provides training, technical support, CAD standards development and other consulting services for her clients, specializing in custom online or on-site training. Since 2000, she has focused on the practice of surface model preparation for GPS-guided machine control systems using Carlson Takeoff and other software. In addition, DiBona offers classes teaching IntelliCAD/AutoCAD for Carlson Software users.
