Governor Granholm appoints M. Jack Knowles, III to the Great Lakes Wind Council

Detroit, MI (February 17, 2009) – M. Jack Knowles, III of Dietrich, Bailey and Associates, PC (DBA) was appointed by Governor Granholm February 6, 2009 to the Great Lakes Wind Council.

The Great Lakes Wind Council is an advisory body within the Department of Energy, Labor, and Economic Growth that will provide citizens with a public forum to begin to identify where, in the Great Lakes, wind energy systems may be prudently sited. The council will identify criteria for mapping areas that should be excluded from offshore wind development and those areas that are most favorable for such development, providing a full report to the governor by September 1, 2009.

Jack graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture and is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects and the Michigan Association of Planning. Jack has served on the Scio Township Planning Commission and the Scio Township Zoning Board of Appeals and is now a newly elected Scio Township Trustee. Mr. Knowles began his career with Dietrich, Bailey and Associates, PC in 1983. With his experience and training, Jack quickly moved through the ranks and currently serves as Vice President of DBA, a subsidiary of Spalding DeDecker Associates, Inc. Jack has more than 30 years of experience in site planning and landscape design and is responsible for directing the firm’s site and land development projects. Mr. Knowles is registered in Michigan and Ohio.

DBA President, Michael J. Bailey, PE said, “We are honored to have someone from DBA serve at the Governor’s request. I am sure Jack will be an asset to the council and the future of wind generation in Michigan.”
