January 12, 2009 – QCoherent Software, provider of Limitless LiDARTM software tools, is pleased to announce the release of its free LiDAR viewer, LP Viewer. LP Viewer is able to load and visualize copious amounts of LiDAR data in the industry standardized LAS 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2 formats. Requiring a Windows operating system and a minimal hardware configuration, LP Viewer provides fast on-the-fly tinning, contouring, 3D, profile visualizations, and ease of operation for which QCoherent Software has become known. LP Viewer is installed with a Free LP360 Evaluation. The LP360 evaluation (including LP Viewer) can be downloaded from QCoherent Software’s web page: www.QCoherent.com.
According to Torin Haskell, QCoherent Software’s Director of Business Development, "One of the most frequent requests we have received is to provide a free viewer that has the ability to load massive quantities of data with the visualization capabilities inherent in QCoherent software. LP Viewer accomplishes this and in so doing promotes the use of classified point clouds rather than the unfortunately all too common distribution model of creating and maintaining an assortment of stripped down derivative data. Often this is done primarily because of software limitations and an unfamiliarity with the value inherent in a full LiDAR point cloud. LP Viewer provides an ideal free tool to access the rich high-density point clouds being collected and delivered by today’s LiDAR service providers."
LP Viewer continues QCoherent Software’s mission of developing flexible LiDAR software that enables users of LiDAR data to easily and efficiently access gigantic LiDAR point clouds in geospatial operations. LP Viewer is part of QCoherent’s LP360 LiDAR software tool suite.
