Aurora, CO USA – Merrick & Company, a world leader in LiDAR, digital ortho imaging, photogrammetry, and geospatial solutions was awarded a contract by the Australian-American Energy Company (AAEC) to acquire and deliver LiDAR data, digital orthophotography, and a DTM of approximately 640 square miles at the Crow Reservation of the Crow Tribe of Indians (Apsáalooke Nation), within southeastern Montana.
The Crow Nation and AAEC have partnered to explore the coal resources on the reservation in order to develop coal-to-liquids operations on the Reservation. Gary Outlaw, Merrick’s Vice President – Business Development, GeoSpatial Solutions states, “The geospatial data provided under this contract will be an important input to the geologic subsurface modeling required for this energy development project.”
According to James Leahy, Engineering Manager, AAEC, “The Many Stars project will offer many benefits including providing new jobs in Montana, developing new energy sources, and creating long term economic and social benefits for the Crow Indian Tribe.”
