Bechtel Chief Information Officer Inducted into CIO Hall of Fame

San Francisco – November 11, 2008 – Bechtel Corporation today announced that Chief Information Officer Geir Ramleth has been inducted into CIO magazine’s Hall of Fame 2008 at The Year Ahead Summit in Coronado, CA. For the last 11 years, CIO has honored those who have transformed and guided the IT discipline.

“It is an honor to be selected for CIO’s Hall of Fame," Ramleth said. "This recognition is a tribute to Bechtel’s entire Information Systems & Technology team."

“We are proud that Geir has been recognized with this honor,” said Bechtel’s Chief Financial Officer Peter Dawson. “His leadership has created innovative solutions to deliver efficient, world-class systems that are a competitive advantage to our global engineering, construction, and project management business.”

Ramleth gave the keynote speech to open the summit in Coronado, where he outlined the development of the Project Services Network (PSN) at Bechtel.

The PSN is Bechtel’s redesigned computing environment, which enables a more secure and effective experience for Bechtel’s employees and partners around the world.  “With PSN,” Ramleth explained, “we placed our data centers right at the hub of the Internet, where most of the world’s networks interconnect, so that Bechtel’s dispersed offices and project teams have faster access to the information they need.  Additionally, we transformed our applications approach, making it much easier for employees to access data from anywhere in the world, using any computer with an Internet connection, via a secure and customizable portal.”
