Award recognizes Dewberry’s contribution to floodplain mapping technology

Fairfax, VA—August 25, 2008 – Dewberry, a nationally recognized consulting firm based in Fairfax, Virginia, has been awarded the Special Achievement in GIS, or SAG, award from ESRI, a leading GIS and mapping software developer. Dewberry was selected to receive the SAG award from over 100,000 ESRI user sites worldwide.

Tim McCormick, PE, CFM, Dewberry’s senior vice president with the firm’s hazard engineering services group accepted the award from ESRI President Jack Dangermond. In 2005, Dewberry was also named Partner of the Year by ESRI for demonstrating “exemplary leadership using GIS in its emergency response to the devastation inflicted by [the 2004] Florida hurricanes.” ESRI recognized Dewberry’s use of GIS technology to support the efforts of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, as well as state and local governments, noting that, “Dewberry’s leadership in this role will further promote the use of GIS in the constructive response to these and future disasters.”
