Topcon Awards OSU Graduate Students for Geodetic Work

Livermore, CA — Ohio State University (OSU) doctoral students Shahram Moafipoor and Karla Edwards were the recipients of the third annual Topcon Positioning Systems Graduate Student Award. Each student received $2,000 and a certificate.

The awards were established to recognize research achievements of OSU Geodetic Science graduate students. Moafipoor and Edwards were honored for their “exceptional achievements in graduate research in the art and science of satellite navigation and geodetic surveying.”

Dr. Dorota Brzezinska, associate professor, OSU Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Geodetic Science, works with the faculty and Topcon with the selection process.

Dr. Brzezinska said of the students,  “Without doubt, Shahram has already demonstrated his dedication and research maturity, and considering his talents and commitment to research work, I can only expect that he will only grow and expand his talents and research interests.

“Based on Karla’s academic achievements and her research work in the past years, I can say that she is a bright, dedicated, and enthusiastic young researcher. Her record is already strong, and indicates that she will grow further, and will surely become one of the new-generation of leaders of modern geo-information science.”
