Office to offer sales, support, and service.
{mosaddphp:mega-house.php}(Norcross, Ga., 21 December 2007) – The Leica Geosystems "Geomatics Center of Excellence" opened to much excitement and high expectations from the local surveying and engineering community. This 4,000 square foot, modern high-tech facility located in Houston, Texas, will offer sales, support, and service for all Leica Geosystems surveying, hi-definition scanning products (HDS), and reference station network infrastructures.
The inaugural Open House Week festivities included interactive training sessions, educational seminars, facility tours and one-on-one introductions to facility staff. The Geomatics Center of Excellence staff hosted as many as 50-60 surveyors each day during these weeklong events. During this time, visitors were treated to hands-on demonstrations of some of the industry’s latest technological advancements, such as the Leica ScanStation 2 and HDS 6000, the Leica System 1200, SmartPole, and GPS RTK. Each session included a short classroom session explaining the system application and then an in-the-field component that allowed each visitor to test drive the solution in a real-world application. An overview of the technical specifications was presented in the training room followed by outside hands on sessions allowing each visitor to test drive the solution in a real-world application.
The Geomatics Center of Excellence staff also hosted the first of many advanced technology training sessions. These small, personalized training sessions allow surveyors and engineers to bring their own equipment to the Center to learn tips and tricks through hands-on exercises. For instance, this first training session focused on the application of GPS RTK techniques.
Bill Beam, Plant Sales Executive for the Western U.S. for Leica Geosystems, says, “Through the Center, we have a unique opportunity to work hand in hand with surveyors and engineers in Texas and surrounding states. We are looking forward to sharing our knowledge and pioneering the latest technology advancements in the surveying and laser scanning fields.”
Jeff Ryall, Technical Sales for the Surveying Department at the Geomatics Center for Excellence, adds, “There is a tremendous thirst for knowledge about new technologies and how these technologies can be applied to improve speed and quality. We’re very excited about the opportunity to support the surveying and engineering community through this facility.”
The Geomatics Center of Excellence staff also includes Russell Henderson, R.P.L.S., Leica Geosystems/Technical Support and Mike Clissold, Leica Geosystems Service Technician.
