Added optional password protection provides cautionary measure
Livermore, CA – Topcon Positioning System (TPS) announces a new security feature in the onboard software for its total stations. Users will now have the option to require password entry for the GTS-100N, CTS-3000, GTS-230W, and GPT-3000W/LW series total stations.
“We listened to what many surveyors and contractors have shared about their experiences of equipment theft,” said Scott Langbein, TPS product marketing manager. “By requiring a password to power on and operate the instrument, owners will take a step toward protecting their equipment from being used if stolen. Thieves will learn that there is not a market for a Topcon total station made inoperable by password protection.”
