Tensing announced today that it has successfully upgraded N.V. Elmar, sole electric distributor on the island of Aruba, to the latest version of Tensing Mobile GIS. Tensing Mobile GIS is a platform-independent product that runs on any Windows-driven device utilizing the Microsoft .NET Framework or .NET Compact Framework. In addition to a faster data extractor, the latest version of Tensing Mobile GIS adds a gazetteer, tracing functions, and saved views to a multitude of existing features.
According to Juni Figaroa, Supervisor-Engineer of Elmar’s GIS Data Warehouse Department, “we [Elmar] have been using Tensing Mobile GIS for a number of years and are quite happy with the user friendly interface and functionalities. With Tensing Mobile GIS our supervisors have access to our corporate GIS and they can update data in the field. The additional features of the upgrade will further improve our service to customers.” Mr. Figaroa oversees all data gathering in the field for Elmar.
Tensing Mobile GIS is a robust tool that allows field staff to review, analyze and change (or update) existing data in the field. It extends GIS capabilities to crews in the field and gives them access to entire mapping systems on laptop, pen, tablet computers and PDA’s. Data is provided to the field by extracting data from any corporate GIS database via an extremely fast one-to-one conversion tool that simplifies the presentation of the data. Tensing Mobile GIS allows the field staff to use the same application regardless of hardware platform.
