Leica Geosystems Exhibits at Canada's National Heavy Equipment Show

(Norcross, Ga., 19 April, 2007) At the recent National Heavy Equipment Show, Canada’s largest construction event, Leica Geosystems put its advanced positioning products at center stage to give a very captive audience the chance to experience Leica GradeSmart 3D, Leica Geosystems’ integrated 3D machine automation dozer and grader solution. Leica DigSmart, Leica Geosystems’ 2D and 3D positioning solutions for excavators, were also featured.

As part of Leica Geosystems’ concerted effort to increase its presence in the Canadian construction market, Leica Geosystems secured six times the floor space from previous years to showcase its complete range of positioning products for the construction industry.

Throughout the two-day conference more than 11,000 attendees were afforded the first-ever opportunity to test out the Leica GradeSmart 3D solution by climbing into the cab, grabbing the joysticks and working the pedals to simulate real-world, construction site tasks. Shown for the first time in Canada, Peter Heddstedt, Vice President and General Manager of Leica Geosystems Canada, said offering this hands-on approach to the company’s positioning solutions was a novel experience and an “absolute success.”

“Allowing show participants to discover and to interact with the Leica GradeSmart through a mock-site simulation was a completely new experience for machine automation users, and subsequently, it was a big draw for Leica Geosystems,” said Heddstedt. “Having the freedom and possibility to role play with the Leica GradeSmart and DigSmart technology is the best way for customers to make informed buying decisions, and the customers responded very positively to the opportunity. We’ll be very busy over the next few months following up on all of our leads with actual field demos.”

The National Heavy Equipment Show was held at the International Center in Toronto, Canada from Mar. 22-23, 2007.
