Topcon Technology Roadshow scheduled for more than 100 cities

Livermore, CA – Dubbed the TTR 2007 Speed, Accuracy and Bottom Line Tour, the 2007 Topcon Positioning Systems (TPS) Technology Roadshow  kicks off its fifth year of educational seminars and hands-on demonstrations for surveying, GPS, GIS and machine control operations.

From April to October TPS representatives in conjunction with Topcon dealers, will host regional seminars in more than 100 cities across the United States and Canada. The presentations are designed to illustrate:

• How new technology can increase job site productivity and profitability;
• The impact of automation on the modern construction site;
• Breakthroughs in accuracy and job site productivity using satellite systems;
• Robotic technology and how it is used on job sites; and the
• Latest news on space-based navigation and multi-satellite signal technology.

Other specialized topics can be added to any Technology Roadshow presentation as requested.

Jason Killpack, TPS product marketing manager, said, "Owners and operators constantly struggle with the same question: ‘How can I learn about the technology affecting my business when I’m busy every day running my business?’"

The answer is simple, Killpack said: "A Topcon Technology Roadshow, through videos, informal education sessions, hands-on demonstrations and open question-and-answer sessions can give customers an incredible amount of useful information in half-a-day," he said.

"Technology is all around us and it’s changing at a feverish pace," Killpack said, "and precise positioning technology used on job sites is leading the change."

The changes are coming so fast, he said, "that it is very easy to get mixed messages about what is the best technology for individual business owners and operators. That’s the value of the Topcon Technology Roadshow: You get to learn all about the latest positioning technologies first hand. And you get to not only see the technology but try it out."

The three-to-four hour sessions can be customized to accommodate a majority of attendees’ schedules whenever possible.

"Outside of traditional industry magazines, there are few opportunities to get the latest information of the technology effecting how positioning work gets done," said Jamie Williamson, senior vice president of sales and marketing.  "Many people would have to wait for an annual trade show which may involve traveling long distances to see the latest products and technology.  With the Technology Roadshow, we bring the information to you locally.

"No other manufacturer in the civil engineering industry does this, and our experience has shown that Technology Roadshow attendees really appreciate the information and technology updates."

The multi-media presentations are designed to educate engineering, survey and construction professionals about the new technologies that are available to increase accuracy and productivity on a daily basis.  Part of the show will include a question and answer session by technology experts from Topcon.

The show presentations will include basic and advanced concepts of satellite navigation and positioning, as well as imaging, robotic, job site communications and laser technology.  Each show wraps up with hands-on demonstrations of products.
