Make Job Connections at GITA's Geospatial Career Expo

Aurora, Colo., Feb. 2, 2007—The Geospatial Information & Technology Association (GITA) is pleased to announce that the 2nd annual Geospatial Career Expo will be held at Annual Conference 30, slated for March 4-7, 2007, at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas.

GITA’s goal is to give newcomers to the GIS field as well as veteran professionals a place to meet with recruiters from a variety of geospatial companies. There is no admission fee for job seekers to attend this one-day event, which will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, 2007.

“When the job fair was introduced at last year’s conference, it was a huge success,” Conference Chair Mary Ann Stewart, Mary Ann Stewart Engineering, LLC, said. “It’s a great way to introduce people to the fascinating world of GIS, and the exhibiting companies know that GITA attendees are qualified job candidates.”

The list of companies exhibiting at the job fair is growing daily, and as of today includes:
• Applied Field Data Systems Inc.
• EarthData International
• MapFrame Corporation
• Telvent Miner & Miner
• Watershed Concepts

The drastically expanded conference will also feature 99 technical paper presentations, 15 half-day seminars, panel discussions, user forums, a keynote presentation by founding executive editor of Hotwired, Howard Rheingold, networking socials, a poster session, and a 100,000-square-foot product and services exhibition.

Online registration is now open. Registration fees start at $379. Exhibits-only passes are $25. Full details about the conference are available at the GITA Web site, located at, or by contacting GITA headquarters at 303-337-0513.
