Dates, Place Set for GeoTec Media’s 2007 GeoTec Event

Denver, CO (November 29, 2006) – GeoTec Media announced today that its 21st annual GeoTec Event will be held May 14-17, 2007, at the Calgary Telus Convention Centre, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. GeoTec Media is the publisher of GeoWorld magazine and developer of the Web portal GeoPlace.com.

The 2007 GeoTec Event will be held in conjunction with the GeoAlberta Conference at the Calgary Telus Convention Centre. GeoAlberta’s annual conference is co-hosted by the Alberta Chapter of the Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA), the Alberta Chapter of the Geospatial Information Technology Association (GITA), the Alberta Geomatics Group (AGG), and GeoEdmonton. The GeoAlberta alliance will draw hundreds of new GIS professionals to the 2007 GeoTec Event.

“It is a great opportunity for GeoAlberta to work with an organization like GeoTec on a combined conference,” says Pat Drinnan, supervisor, Mapping & Facility Data, FortisAlbera. “We will not only gain invaluable knowledge and expertise but will realize far greater participation on a national and international level. The economy of Alberta and Calgary in particular is driven by the resource sector with a heavy reliance on GIS professionals. This conference will give them an opportunity to share their experiences and learn from other GIS professionals from around the world.”

The 2007 GeoTec Event will include a comprehensive educational conference with keynote speakers, in-depth workshops, breakout sessions in multiple tracks, best-practice case studies, roundtable discussions and vendor presentations. The exhibition hall will feature geospatial technology vendors from around the globe.
