GIS in the Rockies Registration Closes on Thursday, September 7

Conference Attendance Expected to Be One of the Highest Ever

September 5, 2006 – Denver, Colorado – The program committee of the 2006 GIS in the Rockies Conference announced today that conference pre-registration will close on Thursday, September 7, 2006.  GIS and Surveying professionals who still wish to pre-register for the conference can visit www.gisintherockies.org to complete the online registration process. Interested parties who do not register prior to the deadline must register upon arrival to the conference venue.

The 2006 GIS in the Rockies Conference will be held September 13 – 15, 2006 at INVESCO Field at Mile High stadium in Denver, Colorado. The six sponsoring societies and organizations share a dedication to promote professional development, education, and general community outreach while helping people understand the uses and benefits of GIS technology.

“Pre-registration numbers for this year’s conference are up significantly over previous years. We believe the combination of a strong program theme and impressive list of fifty-five exhibitors has driven the increased interest in this year’s show,” said Mike Greer, Chair of the GIS in the Rockies Planning Committee.  “Our theme, “GIS: From Behind the Scene to Extreme,” seems to have found a good audience with Rocky Mountain geospatial professionals. No longer considered a back room technology used by scientists and map makers, GIS in the Rockies 2006 will showcase the varied and exciting uses of GIS across a broad array of interests and needs.”

Panel sessions will be organized along the following program tracks:
• GIS for Utilities
• Advanced Data Acquisition and Mapping
• GIS for Surveyors – Spatially Enabling your Business
• GIS in Public Policy
• Remote Sensing
• Regional Data Development & Sharing
• Homeland Security & Emergency Response
• Maps in Apps
• Spatially Enabling IT
• Mapping Goes Mainstream
• Vendor Showcase

Off-site visits and activities will take place in and around the Denver metro area on September 15th. Interested GIS and Surveying professionals can register for conference entry online at the event website: www.GISintheRockies.org.
