Leica Geosystems Introduces Version 2.1.0 for GPS Spider Software for Reference Stations & Networks

Norcross, GA – 15 May 2006 – Leica Geosystems today announced the release of Version 2.1.0 (V2.1.0) for the popular Leica GPS Spider software for control and monitoring of reference stations and networks.

Leica GPS Spider V2.1.0 incorporates a number of improvements to enhance software usability and performance, including improved data processing for network RTK and new display screens for the graphical user interface. The software now offers loadable background maps and a graphical, continuous raw data status view.

The new version of GPS Spider also supports the recently introduced Leica GMX902 monitoring GPS receiver to meet the growing demand for high-precision GPS monitoring applications. A new coordinate post-processing function provides for improved, slow-moving object monitoring. Both real-time positioning and post-processing also now support data rates up to 20 Hz, as provided by the Leica GMX902 or GRX1200 series GPS receivers, for detection of high-frequency object motion.

“With this new update of GPS Spider software, Leica Geosystems continues its commitment to product development and improvement in GPS reference station solutions,” said Neal Toso, product marketing director for Leica Geosystems. “As reference station networks continue to proliferate throughout the Americas, there is increasing demand for remote control and monitoring software.”

GPS Spider is an integrated suite of software for centrally controlling and operating single reference stations or networks of stations. GPS Spider is modular and scalable with advanced solutions for long-range, high-accuracy network RTK (SpiderNET), centralized data distribution and data access management. The software also supports the charging of data and services.
