Trimble Introduces 5800 Limited GPS System
Sunnyvale, Calif., Nov. 29, 2005 — Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) introduced today the Trimble® 5800 Limited GPS System. The system combines a dual-frequency GPS receiver, antenna, UHF radio, and battery in a single compact unit. The Trimble 5800 Limited GPS System consists of a cable-free base station together with a real-time kinematic (RTK) rover. It is ideal for stakeout, control, topographic surveys, roading, and cadastral surveying on small- to medium-sized job sites. With its easy-to-use software and ultra-rugged Pocket PC controller, the 5800 Limited GPS makes surveying simple.
The 5800 Limited GPS System includes the ultra-rugged Trimble Recon® Controller running Microsoft® Windows Mobile™ for Pocket PC operating system. Using this industry-standard operating system, the color graphic display and all menu and screen options are familiar and easy to use. Surveyors can run complementary Pocket PC applications on the Trimble Recon controller, such as Pocket Word, Excel, or other specialized programs that allow surveyors to take the convenience of their office to the field. The 5800 Limited GPS system is packaged with Survey Pro with Trimble Systems Extension (TSX) software, one of North America’s most popular surveying field software solutions.
The system offers a field-proven ergonomic design that is lightweight, rugged, and cable-free. Combining the GPS receiver, antenna, and battery in one compact but tough unit, the 5800 Limited can withstand a pole drop of 2 meters and its environmental specifications include a water resistance rating of IPX7. The complete base/rover system is packed in a single, easy-to-carry transport case.
The 5800 Limited GPS System offers Trimble’s field-proven Maxwell™ GPS technology. The system is an important part of Trimble’s Integrated Surveying™ solution and the Connected Survey Site model: Surveyors can combine GPS and optical data in one file in the Survey Pro with TSX field software and perform powerful processing of all data with Trimble Geomatics Office™ software. The data flow is seamless and ensures efficiency and optimal productivity on the job.
The 5800 Limited GPS System is available now in North America through Trimble’s Survey dealer network.
