New Nikon 362 Series Total Stations Give Surveyors Extra Accuracy and Reach

TOKYO, Sept. 9, 2004 – Nikon-Trimble Co., Ltd. introduced today the new Nikon DTM-362 and NPL-362 Total Stations. Both models combine superior 3 arc second angle accuracy with outstanding battery life and traditional Nikon quality, performance and reliability, making them ideal for a variety of construction and surveying applications. The new Nikon 362 series is available for order immediately through Tripod Data Systems (TDS) in the United States and through Trimble internationally.

The Nikon DTM-362 and NPL-362 offer the longest-lasting battery in their class, allowing surveyors to work all day without changing batteries. For example, the DTM-362 instrument provides nonstop distance/angle measurements for approximately 16 hours, or 27 hours of measurements spaced 30 seconds apart, all on a single battery.

The DTM-362 total station uses a standard prism for conventional surveying operations. The reflectorless NPL-362 version enables users to survey hard-to-reach environments without compromising accuracy or speed. Two independent measurement keys enable the use of prism and reflectorless modes on the same job. The completely eye-safe (Class 1) reflectorless system uses a patented focused beam design to provide positive target identification and an excellent combination of range and accuracy of up to 200 meters (650 feet).

“These new total stations extend Nikon’s performance advantages for virtually any construction and surveying application,” said Ken Spratlin, chief operating officer of Nikon-Trimble Co, Ltd. “The accuracy, battery life and quality of the new models make them invaluable for the surveying professional.”

The Nikon DTM-362 and NPL-362 models feature powerful onboard software. Coupled with a full alphanumeric keyboard and large configurable display, the software makes measurement and data management tasks fast and simple. Each lightweight but rugged total station has a tough water-resistance rating of IPX6, enabling it to keep on working in extreme weather and difficult field conditions.
