Because consumers expect reliable wireless location services, SiRF selected GoAhead’s high availability software to ensure that any failure in equipment or the network is transparent to the user. To achieve the required levels of uptime, SelfReliant is deployed on the SiRF Multimode-GPS location server, monitoring the hardware and operating system. If a failure is detected, SelfReliant automatically takes the appropriate steps to ensure consumers can continue using their location service without interruption. The recovery action can be as simple as an application re-start or as complex as a full failover to a redundant system.
