SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 31, 2004 — Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) announced today that Kadaster, the Dutch Land Registry Office, has awarded an exclusive five-year contract to the Company for the purchase of Global Positioning System (GPS) survey equipment and software. The survey systems will be used to collect accurate position data of registered properties in the Netherlands.
Under the contract, Kadaster will purchase Trimble 5800 RTK GPS surveying systems and 5700 RTK GPS surveying systems with TSCeTM controllers. The equipment takes advantage of Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) technology to access the Dutch Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) GPS network 06GPS, the main reference network in the Netherlands. This technology, in combination with the Windows CE interface, enables the Kadaster to email the collected data direct from the field to the office in order to reduce traveling time. In addition to registering properties, Kadaster will use the Trimble equipment for a variety of surveying and mapping work.
The Dutch Kadaster registers property ownership in the Netherlands; the organization collects geodetic and other information about registered properties, records them in public registers and in cadastral maps and makes this information available to the public. Registered properties include both immovable properties or real estates and movable properties such as ships and aircraft
5800 RTK GPS Surveying System
The Trimble 5800 is a fully integrated, extremely lightweight, RTK GPS surveying system–everything a surveyors needs is all on a range pole. It combines a dual-frequency GPS receiver, antenna, built-in Bluetooth wireless technology and battery. Trimble 5800 GPS system can be configured as a rover or GPS base station, making it versatile to meet the changing needs of surveying projects. Kadaster will be using bluetooth-enabled field computers and GSM radios for cable-free surveying.
5700 RTK GPS Surveying System
The GPS Total Station 5700 is an easy-to-use modular system. It provides surveyors with total flexibility, using different set-up configurations for all types of surveying tasks. At the heart of the system is a low-power GPS receiver, which provides higher speed, longer battery life, better satellite tracking and higher precision in extreme environments. The GPS receiver also includes the extended Real-time Kinematic (eRTKTM) technology, which can cover areas up to four times larger than conventional RTK.
